Description

You know how artists can have an art block? What I'm currently going through is a creativity block in general. And it's horrible. This is mostly a result of a cramming a full load of university units in one semester, almost all psychology, with 2 classes focused on writing papers almost every week, one with a VERY difficult teacher (and by "difficult", I mean the person, not the course), and others with just very heavy material to study. This ultimately resulted in one of the biggest art blocks I've ever had, as it's affecting not just my art, but even writing--I actually intended to get a lot of my original works done throughout the semester, but school has essentially hampered my ability to even think. For this reason, I'm filling the void of creativity death by immersing in video games, among them World of Warcraft. And no, this game is NOT sucking out my soul. In fact, by gamer standards, I'm fairly casual, devoting usually less than 15 hours of play every week.

Besides PVP, what HAS brought me back regularly as a player is the lore. Yes, that horribly written, depressingly retconned, shamelessly cliched lore. But as far as I see it, the writers seem to have a lot of fun with it... something I have been lacking in my own writing. For this reason, playing the game is actually helping me cope with my art block, and hopefully drawing fanart would get me back on track on my original work, especially Tales of Okasan.

Meet Kawala, a warlock orc, and Kapre, a shaman draenei. They have a story to tell, but I'll get to it later. Neither are my main, actually--Kapre's sister, Diawata, is my main, at least currently.

The WIP can be seen here: [link] . Once again, Kapre is a giant for a draenei (he's named after the Philippine tree giant). Kawala is average sized for an orc woman :).

Time: 4 hours
Media: Blue pencil and Micron Pigment pens on computer paper; Paintshop Pro 8.
